I just arrived in Indianapolis (yesterday) what should I do this weekend?

PM asked:

For the record, I am relocating here from
California. I do not have a job as of yet.
Given the fact that it is nearing the end of the work week, i have a long weekend looking me in the face. I am currently in a motel so I could just as easily get in my car and continue driving somewhere else to relocate. What should I do this weekend to keep my mind occupied? I do not want to waste gas just driving around.
I am currently in NW Indianapolis up by 465 and 86st

Good luck finding the kind of fun you were having in California in INDIANAPOLIS. There isn’t a whole lot to do.

If you travel north about 125 miles, you will enter the land of 101 lakes. Very nice. Canoes, camping, state parks, very outddoorsy. If you don’t want to drive that far, Brown County has a very nice state park. Indy has an indoor waterpark at the Holidome.

ok…not going to lie to you, my family is from California, and my brother moved back there for school at Purdue, currently lives around 58th street in the Broad Ripple area, and that is seriously the most boring place I have ever been. There isn’t a whole lot of activity there. It is simple mid west town and you really honestly have to make the most out of it.

It is the land of strip malls. i have never seen so many malls and restaurants in my entire life. And I am from the San Francisco area.

Couple things to check out if it were me. There is a great minor league baseball stadium there right in downtown. The INdy team is not in town this weekend, but if you get the chance take in a game if baseball is your thing. I had a blast there.

Go check out the Indy 500 track. Tons of fun there.

Connor Prairie Museum is kind of interesting.

Food wise, Mama Carolla’s has great italian food, And Eddie Merlot’s does fantastic steak and martinis.
