What are the neighborhoods like and the schools? How bad is the crime? What is the weather like? We have two small children and would like a family friendly town and a great church. Thanks for all the input!!!

Good place to raise a family. Schools vary by district. Your realtor can provide guidance on that. Weather is four seasons. Ice and snow in winter. Very comfortable summers. Beautiful spring and fall.

I would definitely try to live on the North/Northwest or West side. Generally, any place outside of the 465 loop is considered to be good. Schools are good, there are several private ones if that’s your preference. The crime is bad on the east side and south side but it’s not like Detroit or anything. There are several churches around town. My wife and I go to one in Brownsburg which is just west of Indianapolis. Family life is great and there are several things you can do with kids like the Indy Zoo and Children’s Museum. Also, there are several parks for kids to play in and there’s always something to do. My wife and I live in Avon, which is west of Indy but have lived on the west side around 10th street, and in Castleton which is on the northeast side. There was a little too much traffic up there for our taste but Fishers or Noblesville are both great places to raise a family.

Indianapolis is a great family place. There are tons of things to do as a family and lots of events that every member of the family would enjoy.
The neighborhoods are nice and the crime rate has risen but it is nothing compared to other cities around the U.S. The best area to stay away from is the East side of town. And maybe the Southside. The north is filled with different growing areas and their are many good schools and townships. Pike Township is a nice place to live.
Throughout the city there is an abundance of different church for numerous demoninations.
Some of the activites you can participate in with the kids are the Indy 500 (May). In additon there is a Baskeball, Football, and Baseball team. The zoo is great. And their are tons of colleges.
Remember Eagle Creek, Carmel, Pike, Lawrence as areas to live in.
Good luck.

Indianapolis, There isn’t much to do in Indy seriously. The summers are so humid and hot it is hard to breathe. And the winters are so cold The only thing there is Eagle creek park or go to a basketball game or football game that’s about it, To Me and My family its a very boring place to live. we’re moving away from here very soon going back to Houston
