    Just to let everyone know how the doctors went today. Couldn’t get one test due to having a cold. Have to give myself shots twice day day until feb. 17 then have to go back on the 19th of feb. I am really hating the waiting. But thank you all for your words.

    Davida–the week-end “sports stuff” went great. GrandBoy #2 won the Basketball tournament. (Yippee!) GrandBoy #2 and #3 were in the same level at the Dodgeball tournament, along with 16 other teams. The championship round came down to #2 and #3’s teams. (who does Grandma root for?) #2 took First Place. (good thing. he’s older and we were there to celbrate his birthday) Fun Week-End.

    Missed everyone yesterday. I tried to logon and got an error. Got it earlier today, too. Here is the first recipe from my Gourmet Baking on a Budget. I am going to make these Bear Claws tonight, but I will be making a nut and cinnamon filling. This one was too sweet for me

    Almond Bear Claws

    1 pkg refrigerated crescent rolls
    1 (8 oz) can almond paste, divided into 4 equal portions
    1 C sliced almonds
    1/2 cup powdered sugar
    1 egg plus 1 Tbsp water beaten together for egg wash

    Glaze:
    1 Cup powdered sugar
    1 – 2 Tbsp milk

    Preheat oven as directed on roll package.

    Open and unroll crescents. – do not separate yet. Instead of separating trianges for crescents, take two crescents off te roll to form a rectangle.

    Beat the egg and water together and brush along the outside of each square. Take a portion of the almond paste and roll into a tube long enough to fit the rectangle. Place in the center of the dough and fold over like a book, pressing all edges together gently.

    Use kitchen shears to cut 4 notches on the edge side of the book of dough. The notches should be equally spaced and should not cut into the almond paste. Gently bend the dough to flare out the notched edge. Place on lined cookie sheet, brush with egg wash, top with 2 Tbsp sliced almonds, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and bake as directed. Let cool.

    Combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over each bear claw.
