I work for a title company in Indianapolis and I will tell you that it is absolutely a buyers market here. Homes are sitting quite a bit longer and the average home is coming off of the market at about $15k less than it was listed. Quite frankly, you are going to get a lot more home in Indianapolis than you might expect for the money.
If you need a realtor or a loan officer, please shoot me an email and I can put you in touch with someone in the area. (At least in Indianapolis)

The market is soft all over, but Indiana seems to be softer than a lot of areas. McMansions are all over the place. High volume, low quality builders have saturated the market with cheap, glorified house trailers. Subprime lending and underhanded, low payment schemes are adding to the already saturated market. If you are relocating to the area, I suggest you buy an existing, quality home and you can probably get it for a very reasonable price. If you plan to stay awhile, you will probably see a good return on your investment, but you will have to ride out the market. When you are ready to move, email me at. I am an aspiring real estate agent. I would love to help you out.
